TRAINING PROJECT

The K5T Food Sovereignty and Apprenticeship Training Project was initiated with funding from AEST to:

  • Provide participants with transferable skill development, educational opportunities, and apprenticeship development
  • Support food security needs of the people in the Traditional Territory of the Kitselas and Tsimshian First Peoples by providing healthy, affordable, locally grown food
  • Fill a gap by addressing labour market challenges and food security issues while developing transferable and marketable skills
  • Creating a sustainable, local food systems model that can be replicated in other communities to begin to minimize reliance on the global food system
